Prometheus in Marrakesh
Wednesday December 10th to Saturday December 13th
Marrakesh has been on our travel to do list for quite a while. Marrakesh is a colourful city located in the North African country Morocco, a country rich in culture and traditions.
We have booked rooms in the Grand Plaze Hotel Opera **** a modern hotel situated on the edge of the centre. We will stay at the hotel based on a bed and breakfast with dinner included on day 1. Nearby is a modern mall with many of the well-known chainstores. But, much more interesting is the old Medina (old town) which is about a 30 minute walk away. Alternatively you can use a taxi, although we then advise you to negotiate the price before you get in.
Programme
Day 1 Wednesday December 10th
9.15 am Departure from the Aula Eindhoven airport where our flight leaves at 1.25 pm
7.30pm Dinner in the hotel
Day 2 Thursday December 11th
Breakfast in the hotel
9 am Departure to the Medina where we meet the guides for a tour of the Medina (old city) and soukh. Amongst others we will visit a Hammam, a pubic bakery and mini-ceramics workshop where artisanal mosaic ceramic products are made.
The guided tour ends at the famous and very busy Djeema El Fna, a world heritage site. You’re probably quite hungry by this time, which is perfect timing as it is time for the lunch at the cozy Al Baraka restaurant.
1pm Lunch at Restaurant Al Baraka
Your afternoon is free to spend as you wish. Get lost in the soukh, visit Bahia Palace and/or the Majorelle Gardens. If you choose to remain in town until the evening, you can watch the city change. A good viewpoint is a rooftop bar at the Jemaa El Fnaa.
You are free to make your own dinner arrangements.
Day 3 Friday December 12th
Breakfast in the hotel.
9 am Today we are going out of town. Our transport is 4x4 jeeps and we are taking a scenic route to view the Atlas mountains. Today we will also visit a Berber village for tea and enjoy a tasty lunch along the way. Our route will take us via Asni and Oureke before we head back to Marrakesh.
You are free to make your own dinner arrangements.
Day 4 Saturday 13th December

Your day is free to spend as you wish
3.30pm Estimated time to depart to the airport and take the flight from Marrakesh to Schiphol airport.
Our bus will collect us from the airport and drop us back in Delft.

Homeward journey
TRANSAVIA Marrakech - Schiphol. Date: December 13th 2025, time: 18.20 – 22.15 hours
