Wadlopen (wad walking) in Noord Holland

A unique and very Dutch daytrip

Wadlopen is perhaps unique to the Netherland. With a correct tide walkers are able to walk from the mainland to one of the Wadden islands. It’s quite a challenge as you need to walk at the correct speed to avoid getting too wet. We are planning this activity in September when the sea has warmed up a bit. However, we are not walking from the mainland to an island. We will first go aboard a boat where you  may be able to spot seals. The boat will drop us off on the Wad and from there, with a guide, we will walk back to shore. The programme may be done in reverse order.

You will see sea birds, shells, the guide will be able to answer all of your questions about this unique Dutch activity and the local area. We do advise to bring your binoculars if you have them.

Your day includes:

Return travel by bus from the Aula to Wieringen.

A drink on the boat

About an hour in the boat

A guided walk back to shore..

Once we get back to the shore there will be chips waiting for you.

This activity is for all members and their families who are able to walk well. We advise children no younger than 7 years old. Wadlopen starts at 2pm pm and we will leave from the Aula at 12.15pm

You will need to wear old lace up shoes as it is muddy. Although there is a place to wash shoes, you will need other shoes or slippers to travel home on the bus.
